Aviva: Independent or restricted advice?
The Retail Distribution Review is changing the face of advice. By the end of this year, advisers will have to choose whether they’re offering independent or restricted advice.
The FSA has tightened the definition on independent in the RDR rules. It means that firms wanting to offer independent advice will have to meet stricter criteria than they currently do.
With many firms reluctant to give up their independent tag, there could be some tough decisions ahead.
