Aegon: How to keep motivated on the road to RDR Success
If you run a business sometimes to motivate others you have to have that inner motivation to succeed. To help you along the road here are some ways in which to maintain your own motivation as you deal with the changes we all face:
- Act enthusiastically and in a committed way in your daily work - you'll soon feel the difference.
- When things go wrong, don’t blame others. Take responsibility and ensure you have a plan of action.
- Take time out of your day to identify ways in which you can lead by example.
- Remember the 50–50 principle: 50% of our motivation comes from ourselves and 50% from the world we operate in.
- Never manipulate, lead by example and your own ethics to motivate others.
- Don’t over engineer - set an example naturally than some Machiavellian calculated manner!
- Never give up. Every problem has a solution, it just takes time to find it.
- Be certain you're in the right role for your own skills, interests and temperament.
- Use your experience - remember where you've been successful and learn from your past mistakes.
- When things get tough take time out have fun.
- Remember the three core attributes of leadership: enthusiasm, commitment and perseverance.
Try it for a week and see how you feel.
