How do your clients’ pension savings compare?

We’ve launched our 7^th annual Women and Pensions Report. Titled ‘Mind the generation gap’ it shows the latest pension position for women in the UK. The report also looks at the gender gap in pensions. The good news is that women have started saving more towards their retirement. And, the gender gap for saving is finally reducing. There are great statistics that can help you plan how to increase the amount that your female clients save for retirement.

The report includes many interesting facts.

• The number of women saving adequately for retirement hits seven year high – 50% in 2011 compared with 43 per cent in 2010.
• Women who save are saving a higher percentage of income compared with men – 12.9% for women compared with 12.6% for men, including employer pension contributions.
• Despite this, men are saving significantly more in monetary terms – as much as £700 each year
• The generation gap is growing – 56% of women aged over 51 are saving adequately for retirement, compared to 46% of women aged between 30 – 50.
