Glassagh Consulting: Use the power of ideas
Edward De Bono the renowned business coach and creative thinker was recently asked “what is the most important piece of advice for businesses in our challenging times”, the answer he gave was “appoint a Chief Ideas Officer”!
Great ideas can save time, improve processes, make you work smarter but more importantly they can make a business more profitable.
The hard part is coming up with those ideas that’s why a clever tactic is to make sure you utilise business ideas that have worked for others in the past and make them work for you.
Having a Chief Ideas officer (CIO) may be easy for large businesses but in a small business the power of ideas comes from you and your staff. The secret is to ensure you have a forum where these ideas can be discussed and taken forward by a nominated person or more usefully by a volunteer with a drive and a desire to make the idea work.
I am passionate about the power of good ideas and working with Panacea Adviser we have put together 14 ideas, all designed to help any business evolve in our changing world.
I would like to share one to encourage you to download the booklet from the panacea website.
Success for any business in our profession has to be about identifying what clients and future customers want and to deliver this profitably not just once but on an ongoing basis.
Simple but true, if you know what your clients want now and in the future, and continue to evolve as their needs change then it is highly likely you will be successful.
However, any good idea needs a process and structure established to make it real or it remains a dream.
The operational issue for this idea is again common sense. Ensure you regularly research your clients, talk to them and ask what they actually desire and require. Use this as the DNA of a consistent and profitable proposition.
The key to success in life and any business is having a plan. A robust business plan is founded and driven by ideas. For ideas that can help evolve your business why don’t you download our free Business Evolution booklet and become your own Chief Ideas Officer http://t.co/dCNzRai57l
